It’s 10 mins from the airport to the ring road which costs 1 Euro on bus 88 from memory. Far cheaper than a cab and the buses are every 20 mins. Any of the roads will lead you to the centre of the old town but do take a map as you can get lost if you haven’t got your bearings, there’s maps at the airport. We walked to the 3 crosses on the hill, and to the Tower or the views. If it’s raining, then head for the KGB museum that will take a few hours. Otherwise, mooch around and have a beer or two as well.
Actually, Vilnius is twice bigger than Achen, and Have about 800 tousunds with suburbs. Lots of people live in houses or cotegges about 20 km awau from old town. And these hoses often better quality than in Germany

Be prepared to walk, ...how long to give for wandering around is up to you....the area of Uzupes , the bohemian part of Vilnius is interesting and is about a 3-4 hour excursion from the central Town Hall.....you can get free guided tours that take half a day each which are worth doing,from the Town Hall , there are 2or 3 different routes that you can take, if you do all of them , you have covered it ..the tours are run by young University students who are multi lingual and are free, though a small tip is good to leave .. Restaurants are touristy if you want traditional food, stay away from the main drag ones, otherwise there is plenty of cuisine choices ..Bistro 18 is quaint but expensive for Vilnius
How would I get to Trakai by public transport from Vilnius Town

The vest Way is By train. Then you can walk thru The town towards the castle or it might be some cabs at the station. Also, a bus is an option, train and bus stations are close by.
