New records are made in MLB every week, but there are also rare moments that almost never happen—like what William and Willson Contreras just accomplished in the same inning.
Hoskins was hit by a pitch on a 1-1 count in the fourth inning. The play with Contreras and Durbin at first happened in the third inning. Contreras was then hit by a pitch in the fifth on a 2-0 count. He then homered in the ninth and looked to be staring down the Brewers bench as he rounded first base.
To support his teammate, Rhys Hoskins voiced his displeasure loudly from the bench. In a postgame interview, Contreras was asked about the incident, and his fiery NSFW response went viral on social media. While Willson Contreras never named the player, it was evident that he was taking a jibe at Rhys Hoskins.
Contreras wanted to send a ‘message’ to his teammates, and did as a disrupting, determining force in to end their six-game losing streak with win vs. Brewers.
Willson Contreras got into it with the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday after colliding with Chad Durbin. Contreras used some NSFW words while chirping back with the dugout. Then Contreras was hit by a pitch after the interaction. This was the perfect chance for Contreras to let it be known that wouldn’t be tolerated.
The incident stemmed from a play in the bottom of the third, when Caleb Durbin collided with Contreras as he tried to beat out a groundball.
Contreras went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI in Friday's 3-2 victory over St. Louis.
