Detroit's iconic rapper Eminem could soon be stepping onto a new stage in women's professional basketball with ownership of a WNBA team.

There is a lot of competition between cities in the race to land the next WNBA expansion franchise. Detroit is one of the cities in the mix, and rapper Eminem has joined the bid, according to Sportico.

Sportico reported Wednesday that the legendary Detroit rapper has joined the investment group that includes Pistons owner Tom Gores, General Motors CEO Mary Barra and several prominent Detroit sports stars, including Lions quarterback Jared Goff and former Pistons Grant Hill and Chris Webber.
