Maine basketball star Cooper Flagg is set to make waves at the ESPN ESPY Awards on Wednesday night in Los Angeles. The Newport-native is nominated for two prestigious awards: Best Breakthrough Athlete and Best College Athlete.
Cooper Flagg and Kon Knueppel, former Duke teammates, met at the NBA Summer League. Flagg, now with the Dallas Mavericks, greeted Knueppel of the Charlotte Hornets. Their brief reunion highlighted their strong bond.
