A fast-moving fire fueled by winds erupted in northwestern Los Angeles County near the 5 Freeway overnight. Evacuation warnings are in place.
A fire broke out south of Gorman early Thursday morning just after 1 a.m. The brush fire has burned 490 acres and is 5% contained, according to Cal Fire. The fire is east of Smokey Bear Road and Vista Del Lago Road.
The King Fire was burning about 400 acres (162 hectares) near Smokey Bear Road along the freeway in northern Los Angeles County, the Angeles National Forest said in a statement posted on social media. One recreational vehicle park in the area was sheltering in place and an evacuation warning was in place for another, officials said.
