Idris Elba has suggested that more could be done to make kitchen knives safer in order to reduce crime rates across the UK. Speaking to BBC Radio 4, the actor and activist claims that around 25% of knife attacks are caused by knives commonly found at home, and “areas of innovation” could help reduce this.

Elba continued: "It's also an excuse for people to kind of go, 'Well, I'm not Black, I'm not brown, I don't understand it,' and it's not true, either. So not only is it dangerous misinformation, but it's also not true.
