Kayla Harrison, the two-time Olympic judo gold medalist and two-time PFL lightweight champion, became a UFC champion with a second-round submission win over bantamweight titleholder Julianna Peña.

Now, a UFC champion. Kayla Harrison has a new trophy for the case. In the UFC 316 co-main event Saturday at Prudential Center, Harrison (19-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) earned gold in emphatic fashion as she submitted Julianna Peña with a kimura at 4:55 of Round 2.

Kayla Harrison realized her dream on Saturday night after a lopsided mauling leading to a submission finish over Julianna Peña to become champion at UFC 316. It was evident from the first exchange that Harrison was a much more physically imposing fighter as she worked her way inside and brought Peña down to the canvas.
