Ben Griffin shot a 7-under 63 in the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial for the early second-round lead at 11 under.

For 134 of the 135 players in the field at the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge, the course at Colonial Country Club posed a lot of difficult questions during Thursday's opening round. A firm, fast golf surface meant scoring was fairly difficult as the narrow fairways and firm greens combined to create quite the challenge.
The Schwab Challenge began in 1946 as the Colonial National Invitational, named for the Colonial Country Club that hosted the event and has remained one of the most venerable sites on the PGA Tour. This will be the 78th playing of the tournament, all at the John Bredemus and Perry Maxwell design.
Scottie Scheffler held players currently playing in LIV Golf accountable with providing answers as to when the split between the two tours will end.
