TAMARAC - An off-duty Lauderhill police officer shot and killed two dogs outside an Extended Stay America hotel in Tamarac late Monday morning, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Tamarac Fire Rescue. BSO later identified the man as Charles Mowry, 44, of Southwest Ranches. Authorities confirmed that a woman was detained for questioning and is cooperating with detectives.
