State police have closed the freeway's local lanes at West Outer Drive to investigate.

One person has died, and two others are injured, after a shooting on the local lanes of eastbound Interstate 96 near Bentler Street by Outer Drive on Detroit's west side.

The shooting took place at about 1:51 a.m. when Michigan State Police responded to a report of shots fired on the freeway near Bentler.
