Embedded system developers have a wide range of operating systems available to them today. Of course, the most straightforward operating system is to have no operating system! However, many systems ...

After introducing interrupts and the foreground/background architecture, I am finally ready to tackle the concept of a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS). In this first lesson on RTOS (commonly ...

An embedded operating system is a specialized operating system (OS) designed to perform a specific task for a device that is not a computer. The main job of an embedded OS is to run the code that ...

Have you ever thought about how smart devices like mobile phones work? As you likely already know, the backbone for such technologies are their operating systems. Today, there are many operating ...

Open-source or commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) operating systems? In an era of safety-critical embedded systems, the debate among developers is shifting. Embedded systems are the invisible backbone of ...

Today, one of the most underrated capabilities in embedded software development is tracing a real-time operating system (RTOS) application. RTOSs have found their way into nearly all IoT devices and ...

Embedded systems are ubiquitous in IoT devices. Combined with software, dedicated systems for IoT usage employ microcontrollers and microprocessors to enable the networked devices to communicate. For ...

The abstractions that operating systems provide can reduce your development time and effort. Publicly used operating systems provide a common software architecture that expands the available ...

Any electronic system that uses a computer chip but is not a general-purpose desktop or laptop computer, tablet or smartphone. Embedded systems use microcontrollers (MCUs), microprocessors (MPUs) or ...

The RabbitSys kernel is available preloaded on the RCM3365 RabbitSys core module and lets embedded-systems designers update, monitor, configure, detect, diagnose, and debug embedded systems from ...
