HOUSTON - Former Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander is heading out west to join the San Francisco Giants. According to FOX Sports, the former Astro will be signing a one-year deal with the organization. During his 2024 season with the Houston Astros, he started 17 games with a 5-6 record, 74 strike outs, and 90 innings pitched.

SAN FRANCISCO — Justin Verlander and the San Francisco Giants have agreed to a $15 million, one-year contract, according to a person with direct knowledge of the negotiations. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Tuesday because the deal was pending a physical.

Kent only spent three years with the Giants this millennium from 2000-02, but during those three seasons, he was a two-time All-Star, a three-time Silver Slugger and won the 2000 NL MVP. Similar to Belt vs. Snow, it’s not really a competition.
