Dak Prescott is the quarterback of the near future for the Dallas Cowboys. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones will have to decide soon whether he feels the same about coach Mike McCarthy. Cooper Rush is making a good case to stay as Prescott's backup.

The Dallas Cowboys and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers produced a nail-biter for the fans on Sunday night. It was the Cowboys hosting the Bucs in this one at AT&T Stadium, and it was the home team that escaped with a hard-fought 26-24 victory after quite a clash.

This season, Rush has thrown for 1,697 yards, 11 touchdowns, and just three interceptions in relief of Dak Prescott.

With Dak Prescott out for the season, Rush has gotten the audition to return in 2025 with six starts and three more to come.

Rush has 9 fumbles since taking over as the Cowboys starter. Most of the other players with 9 or more have played twice as many snaps.

Cooper Rush and the Dallas offense seem to be rounding into form, although it is almost certainly a case of too little, too late for the Cowboys to make a playoff push.

Last time the Eagles saw Cooper Rush, he was a mess. In his first start after Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending torn hamstring, Rush managed only 45 passing yards in the Cowboys’ 34-6 loss to the Eagles at AT&T Stadium.
