Gifford Fire initially started 3:44 p.m. Aug. 1 in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara County, California. Since its discovery four days ago, it has burned 83,933 acres. By Tuesday evening, the fire crew effectively contained 9% of this fire. The blaze's cause remains under investigation.
