Houston officials report uptick in crashes across city due to icy conditions
Houston first responders noted an uptick in vehicle crashes Wednesday after Tuesday’s snow melted and refroze overnight, worsening road conditions due to the formation of black ice. The Houston Fire Department saw an increase in vehicle crashes beginning Tuesday evening as temperatures dropped and an almost invisible thin layer of ice developed on sidewalks and roads.

HOUSTON — Wintry weather is beginning to affect the Houston area as the region braces for potentially record-breaking snowfall. In the coming days, this means there will be a possibility of ice on the roads. As of 3 a.m. Wednesday, Houston Transtar reports 54 locations of ice on major roadways not including side streets.
