Rallying for the third day running, the 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 384.30 points, or 0.45 per cent, to settle at an all-time high of 84,928.61. During the day, it soared 436.22 points, or 0.51 per cent, to hit a fresh lifetime intra-day peak of 84,980.53.

The Nifty 50 hit a record high of 25,956 points before settling at 25,934, up 0.55 per cent. Similarly, the S&P BSE Sensex reached a fresh high of 84,922 points, closing at 84,864 points, 0.38 per cent higher than the previous close.

Among the top gainers on the NSE were State Bank of India (SBI), which rose 2.89 per cent, followed by ONGC (2.85 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (2.72 per cent), Bajaj Auto (2.48 per cent), and HDFC Life (1.81 per cent).
