At least 27 Palestinians were killed near a Gaza food distribution hub operated by a controversial U.S.-backed group, the enclave's Hamas-run health ministry says.

JERUSALEM/CAIRO - A controversial humanitarian organisation backed by the United States and Israel did not distribute any food aid on June 7, accusing Hamas of making threats that “made it impossible” to operate in the enclave, which the Palestinian militants denied.

Shootings have erupted nearly daily since last week in the Gaza Strip in the vicinity of new hubs where desperate Palestinians are being directed to collect food.
