Elmer Söderblom's phone rang just as he was about to leave, and the name that popped up demanded answering the call. It was Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman, the man who presided over the draft when Söderblom became a part of the organization.

Elmer Soderblom, who began the 2022-23 season with the Wings but was eventually sent back down to Grand Rapids, is finally back in the NHL.

The Detroit Red Wings announced they have recalled forward Elmer Söderblom from their AHL affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins. The 23-year-old has five goals and 17 points in 38 games for Grand Rapids this season.
