Former central banker Mark Carney will become Canada’s next prime minister after he won Liberal Party leadership vote in a landslide. Carney is 59.

Carney, 59, a Harvard grad, will oversee his country at a time when it is locked in a trade war with the United States, its largest trading partner.

Canadians still don’t know much about Mr Carney, but they have been speed-dating him since January, when he launched his candidacy to lead the country’s governing Liberal Party. Polls suggest that, at an anxious time for Canadians,
