RIP, Freevee. Amazon is officially shutting down Freevee, its free, ad-supported video streaming service originally launched under the IMDb brand nearly five years ago. Freevee will be phased out over the course of the next several weeks.

Amazon is preparing to shutter the doors on Freevee. The tech giant will soon phase out Amazon Freevee as it consolidates its content to Prime Video. Original series including "Jury Duty," "Bosch: Legacy" and "Judy Justice" will remain on Prime Video without a paywall.

Amazon.com Inc. is closing Freevee, the free-to-watch, advertising-supported streaming service, folding it into the subscription-based Prime Video product, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

The Amazon Freevee branding will be retired in the coming weeks. Users can now access the platform’s free content via Prime Video.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Amazon plans to fold the platform into Prime Video, with Freevee executives expected to be integrated into various divisions within the company. Freevee’s programming will still be available at no charge for users who don’t subscribe to Prime Video (which is included with an Amazon Prime membership).

Amazon is shutting down Freevee, migrating its content to Prime Video. Freevee titles will remain free to stream without a Prime subscription. Amazon is doing this to simplify the viewing experience for its users.
