More than a dozen people are believed to be dead and many more injured as several fires broke out across Southern California amid historically dry and windy conditions.

The dangerous California wildfires are still burning and threatening the very center of Los Angeles. Firefighters are racing to contain the blazes as strong, gusty Santa Ana winds return to the forecast and continue to fuel the fires.

President-elect Donald Trump launched a new round of criticism Sunday targeting Democrats over their efforts to tame the Southern California wildfires, ripping rival liberal leaders as “incompetent” witnesses to “one of the worst catastrophes in the history of our Country.”

As fires rage, California Gov. Gavin Newsom invited President-elect Trump to visit the state, urging against politicization of the catastrophe.
