Dozens of mayors from across the Los Angeles region banded together Wednesday to demand that the Trump administration stop the stepped-up immigration raids that have spread fear across their cities and sparked protests across the U.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles police swiftly enforced a downtown curfew, making arrests moments after it took effect, while deploying officers on horseback and using crowd control projectiles to break up a group of hundreds demonstrating against President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.
Most of the evening was peaceful, with a few protesters turning to vandalism in a tight area -- actions that brought police to move in closer and ultimately work to disperse the crowd.
Over the last week, a sea of green, white and red Mexican flags have become a fixture of the Los Angeles protests against immigration raids.
At a peaceful vigil in downtown Los Angeles, interfaith community leaders came together for prayer, support and healing.
