Danielson — who hadn’t wrestled since AEW All Out — wasn’t even sure if he could compete at AEW Grand Slam after the attack he suffered at the hands of Jon Moxley.

At AEW Dynamite Grand Slam, Nigel McGuinness faced off against Bryan Danielson in his first singles match since 2011. Notably, it was also McGuinness' first time wrestling Bryan Danielson since September 2009. This match came after McGuinness made his return to the ring at AEW All In in August, taking part in the Casino Gauntlet bout.
