Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said progress is being made to repair and extinguish the Deer Park pipeline fire despite a timeline for recovery that has changed over the past few days. The fire, which Hidalgo called the worst she has seen since a 2019 tank fire at the Intercontinental Terminals Co.

The white SUV drove through a fence on the west side of the Walmart parking lot and struck an above-ground pipeline valve around 10 a.m. Monday. A fire erupted and residual product from the isolated pipeline has continued to burn off.

The towering flame has greatly subsided, four days after a vehicle drove through a fence and struck an above-ground valve, causing a massive pipeline explosion.
