Cal Clutterbuck, the NHL’s all-time leader in hits, announced he is retiring from hockey after playing more than 1,100 games over 17 seasons, including more than a decade as a fourth-line staple for the New York Islanders.

Cal Clutterbuck’s last NHL game came on April 30, 2024, when the Hurricanes eliminated the Islanders in Game 5 of their first-round series. The former fourth-line agitator spent this season as a pre- and post-game analyst for the team’s MSG Networks’ broadcasts.

Clutterbuck, the league’s all-time hits leader and a longtime member of the Isles’ “Identity Line” alongside Casey Cizikas and Matt Martin, appeared in 718 of his 1,064 NHL games over 11 seasons with the Islanders from 2013-14.
