In this instance, The Athletic reports that Man City have moved fast to try to extend the contract of Lewis. Although he already has terms in place until 2028, it is alleged that City are pushing to hand Lewis a deal until the end of 2029-30 with a pay-rise.

Rico Lewis is close to agreeing a new long-term contract with Manchester City. The 20-year-old is expected to extend his stay at the Etihad Stadium until 2030, with an option for a further year. Talks have been ongoing throughout the summer, and while the deal is not yet signed, all parties are confident an agreement will soon be reached.
