Jun 30, 2020 · I talked to Lee Holman today, he said that his dad built a lot of 390 marine engines, a few 428's. Wierd that the serial # begins with The letter A which signifies 427. I know this is kind of a diversion from standard practice in this forum, but this is not the first Holman Moody marine engine thread on this forum.

This car has the 428 Cobra Jet with a Factory 4 speed transmission and Factory 391 9-inch rear. When the car was new it started using oil and the original motor was taken out and switched to the new 1970 428 Super Cobra Jet engine from Holman Moody engines.

Oct 4, 2003 · I've set the timing on all my FE's ( 3-4 390's and a 427) at 12 degrees initial. the 390's used a Cam Dynamics 296 degree .526 lift ( I'm foggy on those specs, been 20 years) the 427 had a Holman-Moody 310 degree, .515 lift solid grind.

May 10, 2009 · I have acquired an original Holman and Moody 427 side oiler block with these markings: C5AE-G date code 5A8 HM number: H47M. The block has 4 sleeves, and is standard bore. There are repairs to the block on both sides of one compartment down low near the oil pan, no involvement of the water jacket.
