He probably thought Sarah was just Sarah, hence why he needed to drug her. Those are just the two theories I was able to come up with. I hadn't even considered that until you brought it up. Judy can use this as a kind of open window into the world where she can feed directly on all the suffering that's happened in Twin Peaks for the last 25+ years. That's why, when she removes her face in the bar, there's kind of a void inside with a collection of abstract images related to the evil that we've seen happen.

Feb 28, 2023 · Sarah Palmer could well be inhabited by Judy when we see her in The Return, but that doesn't mean she has to have been possessed by Judy continually since first swallowing the bug. Maybe it's more like Bob possessing Leyland - "when he was inside me, I didn't know; and when he was gone, I couldn't remember" - implying he comes and goes.

In the very last episode of the return she hears Sarah's voice calling her name for her to wake up, the exact recording of Sarah doing so in the Twin Peaks pilot, when she calls from downstairs to wake her up for school that morning. Judy is a destructive force because it destroys her dream world.

I mean, the whole series is so emotionally complicated and rich in a really enjoyable way, but her portrayal of never-going-to-end horror is just so depressing.

Many have pointed out that this is the voice of Sarah calling up to Laura's room on the day she died. You can hear the voice at 3:53 in this clip. I have noticed that you can hear this same sound clip multiple times throughout the series.
