Nov 25, 2014 · When you dial 911 you're being essentially " connected" to a call taker your GPS info is in your caller or at least cell information is brought up. All that stays on the screen generally until the call is dropped. Not to mention its easier to ask questions and react accordingly. Texts are much more passive.

May 11, 2023 · Depending on where you live, you can. It should send to the same call center that answers normal 911 calls. Check with your local police station to see if they take text messages.

Nov 22, 2018 · A big problem is that, IIRC, the current SMS specification does not guarantee timely arrival of the message sent, or even that it gets sent at all, only that if the message arrives it will be complete.
